I'm not the biggest fan of ovoid-shaped pearls and will admit that I only bought this necklace because it went on a great sale after the Black Friday period.

Now, though, I'm really glad that I went for it. Besides being sturdily and neatly strung, the pearls are beautiful. I compared this necklace to AugustinaJewelry Single Strand 22 Inch 8-9mm pink Oval Shape Freshwater Cultured Pearl Necklace, which I bought and reviewed a couple of months ago, and this one wins hands down. First of all, the pearls are clearly better, even to my untutored eye. They are more lustrous and have that shimmery-rainbow look (I believe this is called orient), which the Augustina pearls lack, and colour-wise, they are a light cool-toned pink, which goes really well with neutrals and pastels. Secondly, the clasp is well-attached, with no dangling tufts of exposed thread (this is what killed it for me with the Augustina necklace).

Of course, to be fair, this HG necklace is significantly pricier, so I would expect more from it in any case. Another thing to note is that these pearls are not smooth ovoids; they are quite irregular in shape, like in the picture, and many are kinda flat on one side.

As far as this sort of pearls go, I don't think that I could have bought one that I like better. It does a brilliant job of dressing up work and casual outfits and I am happy with my purchase.
